vol 2 in the factotum percussion series, matt weston brings us the most song like tracks yet. layers of percussion, stings, keyboards, horn of some kind, feedback, electronics, by far the most adventurous in the series.

michael kimaid delivers us the 3rd vol in the factotum percussion series. you may know kimaid as former stickmen for snap case, but most likely you know him for his work in KBD, the toledo duo with gabe beam, who also runs the amazing robin wood concert house in toledo. this recording starts off with a storm of muscular percussive free destruction, then moves to a more and more minimal pace as the tracks progress. bowing, minimal playing, almost silences. this has been my favorite of the series thus far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
vol 4 of the factotum percussion series is brought to us by none other than blake fleming, drummer of the early incarnation of mars volta, dazzling killmen, and laddio bolocko to name a few. this recording was recorded live in performance as part of the our silent canvas production, "echo the elements on april 29th 2011 at st peter's churck in chelsea, nyc. blake performed solo on drums, gongs and cymbals… the b side is the a side in reverse to reveal the hidden codes.

shane and matthew sent each other a bunch of scraps and they both molded 10 min tracks from the fodder. breakneck cuts, loops, thick murk, all the clangs and bangs you expect. harsh as fuck. if you are a fan of either artist, you need this. if you are looking to check them out for the first time, still not a bad place to start.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
rowlands is joined by a 3rd on their 3rd releases. jonathan michael caldwell, stand up comedian, dj, noise god, uncomfortable human being, joins daniel and matthew in a foray into tape speed fuckery. three recorders, a few pre-recorded sounds and three mouths create a surreal cacophony of astounding sounds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lots of you touring noise types who play in the midwest probably know daniel downing from playing the brickhaus, his hq for all things delco products. some may know him as the other half of rowlands_bobby with matthew from developer. some may have seen a him perform or have one of his one off cassette releases (no two are alike) as lost cat. whoracle of delco sees dan's foray into cut up harsh noise. the term harsh is used quite loosely here. field recordings and found sounds vs harsh noise collage. highly recommended.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
rowlands_bobby is also a brilliant artist. this is his collage art, whoracle dan and developer matt displaying there cut up skills have no limits. art zine full of broken dreams, disappointment and other kid friendly adventures. bleak man, bleak …
